Description

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Vice President of Operations - Imperial Graphics

Supervises: N/A

Purpose of the Job:

Develop and maintain an Imperial Graphics customer base by selling the company's full product and service solution set, which includes a broad range of print applications, label and packaging systems, promotional items, kitted product solutions, and barcoding solutions. The territory is generally the West Michigan area, but is not limited to exclusively this region. Specific benchmarks, activity goals, sales, and gross margin goals will be established by management to measure performance.

Job Functions and Performance Standards:

  • Apply solutions-based sales techniques under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, including completion of the Imperial Graphics Sales Training program "Becoming a Hunter".
  • Develop a clear understanding of Imperial Graphics products, services, and philosophy and continually improve product knowledge to increase value to clients
  • Accept special projects designed to grow Imperial Graphics internally and externally while providing consistent updates to the Vice President of Operations
  • Follow and abide by prospecting system to continually develop new business within existing clients and with new clients
  • Lead the management of assigned Imperial Graphics accounts with the support of the assigned Client Support Specialist and the Vice President of Operations as necessary
  • Participate in team selling opportunities
  • With the support of Procurement and a Client Support specialist, develop proposals and confirmations for all orders
  • Maintain necessary contact with current customers to meet their needs, including coordinating customer visits
  • Network consistently to support brand and corporate awareness
  • Learn and utilize Contact Relationship Management software to capture important account information and sales activity daily
  • Handle correspondence (email, proposals, letters, credit terms, etc.)
  • Represent Imperial Graphics professionally in the workplace and community
  • Prepare and complete quarterly and annual account review meetings with key customers
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Complete new customer application process for new clients
  • Support accounting in the pursuit of delinquent customer payments
  • Prepare expense reports providing all transaction details at least monthly
  • Maintain office workspace at 3100 Walkent Drive NW, adhering to Imperial Graphics corporate business hours policies

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from four-year College
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license
Experience:
  • Two years' experience in print related sales or acceptable experience
Skills:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Basic Computer skills, including the specific software programs: Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM and PowerPoint
