This position provides medical administrative support to one or more outpatient clinics and is an integral member of the outpatient clinic team to effectively carry out day-to-day administrative operations of the clinic. The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) ensures that all necessary health and administrative information are integrated into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) by sending the documents to scanning. The outpatient program requires administrative scheduling and appointment coordination for diagnostic testing, and consultative appointments for many clinical services. This person screens and receives phone calls in a courteous and timely manner, determine the nature of requests and provide the information desired using privacy rules and established clinic processes, and must provide excellent customer service and adhere to VA local, National
and Service policies and procedures. Employee performs a variety of administrative functions associated with patient care and treatment in one of several clinics performing a variety of medical services and requires a high level of coordination to avoid patients having to make multiple trips to the medical center or clinic whenever possible. Notification to his/her supervisor when clinic access is less than desirable or if an individual patient cannot be scheduled within mandated clinic timeframes. The AMSA schedules appointments and utilizes the Electronic Waiting List accurately and daily review of active/pending consults, Electronic Wait List, Recall list and Audiocare communications for accuracy and disposition. Employee must manage position responsibilities with little supervision as well as set priorities and deadlines adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs.

Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday
