Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and support in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare professionals in providing patient care, including data collection, patient education, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Organize and prioritize patient care activities, considering the needs of patients and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs, as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic experience.
  • Assist in developing and implementing patient/family teaching plans based on identified health education needs.
  • Provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Perform administrative support responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in the delivery of patient care.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required with hire.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and frequently bend/stoop/travel.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull lbs.
