What You'll Do

ECS Limited is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our rapidly growing Corporate accounting team in Chantilly with a primary focus on implementing our new accounting program, Microsoft Dynamics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and ERP system implementation, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition to Microsoft Dynamics. Once Dynamics is successfully implemented, you will assist the Controller in managing the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.

Initial Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of the Microsoft Dynamics accounting program implementation.
  • Work closely with the finance team to define requirements and map out the transition process.
  • Train and support team members on the functionalities and best practices of Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Collaborate with accounting team, IT, and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.

Ongoing Responsibilities:

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices; Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting software systems; Streamline and optimize accounting operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy while ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and development; Conduct performance evaluations and support career growth within the team; Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, including other departments and teams as needed.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; Provide insights on financial performance; Provide resolution to complex accounting issues as they arise; Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement; Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger functions; Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes; Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Prior experience in the implementation of new software required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, CMA, CIA certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
  • Experience with implementation of Microsoft Dynamics strongly preferred.
