About this roleWe built the simplest and most reliable screen recorder in the world, but that’s only the beginning. We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our growing Finance function. The Director of Finance will be a key member of the management team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial planning, and analysis. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent financial acumen, and the ability to manage and develop a small team. The Director will work closely with other department heads to support the company's growth and financial health. This position supervises a Controller, Staff Accountant, AR Associate, and seasonal support teams.
What you'll do:Financial Leadership:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and direction for the company.
- Partner with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies that support the company's goals and objectives.
Accounting Management:
- Oversee all accounting operations and ownership of general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end close, and payroll.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team.
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and reporting.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to drive business performance.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Manage sales tax collection, remittance, and reporting.
Business Partnering:
- Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and support for operational decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and systems.
- Support fundraising and investor relations activities as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial planning & analysis, in a SaaS or technology company.
- Proven experience in a leadership role with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and financial planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan) is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Have a strategic mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Possess excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Are proactive and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Are proficient with Excel, Google Suite, macOS, and MS Office Suite.
- Have relevant experience in a technology company (SaaS experience preferred).
This is a Chicago-based hybrid position with 3 days a week in the office.
