Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Specialist to enhance the capabilities of our Milwaukee, Wisconsin office.

Position Description:

This is a career opportunity to be on the cutting edge of various technologies used in the transportation field. AECOM is an industry leader in the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) field for over 40 years. Technologies used includes infrared thermography (IR) and ground penetrating radar (GPR).

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Taking concrete cores for chloride ion and compressive strength testing.

  • Use of infrared thermography (IR) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) tools along with inspection of pavement (PCI, PASER, etc.) are used to manage infrastructure assets.

  • This position is a mix of field and office work.

  • Field work where every project offers different challenges that keep people engaged.

  • We are willing to train applicants on these different technologies and inspection techniques.

  • Travel may be required during the day or overnight for projects with all expenses paid.

  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of the engineering staff.

  • Monitors and documents conformance with quality, performance, safety, and/or code requirements.

  • Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and engineering installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining project documentation.

  • General understanding of procedures, company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.

  • Performs routine duties; viewed as fully competent within limits of experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 2 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • A valid Driver’s License required. Must pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Registration Screening (MVR) to operate Company vehicle.

  • Ability to perform occasional shift changes from day and night.

  • Ability travel to project locations including overnight stays is required.

  • Position requires frequently lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading of objects such as coring equipment weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance and up to 45 pound with assistance.

  • Position requires frequently moving and working in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable environmental weather conditions including heat and cold. Also, a portion of the field work is in close proximity to moving traffic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive Civil/CAD Technology use and production.

  • Construction background

  • Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access)

  • Experience with GIS would be an added benefit.

  • Offered rate of compensation (Wisconsin only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary rate range for this position is $61,000.00 to $106,000.00 per annum.
