Position Summary

Northern Impact, a recognized leader in engineering solutions, is in search of a dedicated Senior Municipal Engineer. This role involves collaborating with an expanding civil engineering team on a wide range of projects. Current assignments encompass civil site development for both new and existing sites, grading design, stormwater management (including hydraulic and hydrologic design, certification, and permitting), as well as evaluations, rehabilitation, and design of sanitary and storm sewer systems, domestic water distribution design, low-impact development, and green infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engaging actively in the project planning and design phases, which includes data collection, field investigations, and the creation of design/feasibility studies, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports.
  • Serving as the technical reviewer for all project outputs and design calculations within the Civil Engineering Group.
  • Offering technical support and guidance to Civil Group staff involved in construction management tasks, such as submittal reviews, responding to requests for information, and managing change orders.
  • Encouraging and facilitating mentoring opportunities for colleagues, including cross-training and succession planning.
  • Carrying out additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of comprehensive experience in the engineering sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Exceptional technical design capabilities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota, Illinois, or Wisconsin.
  • Proficient in solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Ability to conduct thorough technical reviews of work produced by others, ensuring high-quality control of submissions.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Professional Engineer (PE) license in additional states or willingness to obtain it (priority given to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois).
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Additional certifications relevant to your areas of expertise and interest.
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Proficiency in civil engineering design software, including Civil3D, MicroStation, GIS, Excel, and stormwater modeling tools such as SLAMM, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and C3D Storm and Sanitary extensions.
