Position Overview

The Central Civil Works Department is rapidly expanding in the Great Lakes and Mid-West region, and we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Discipline Lead to contribute to our growth. This role involves leading a diverse team of engineers specializing in flood risk management systems, including locks, dams, levees, and ecosystem restoration. Our projects span across the nation and involve collaboration with various specialists to deliver integrated and sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Oversee the conceptualization and preparation of project documentation, ensuring adherence to established standards while fostering innovation in flood risk management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients and AECOM teams to secure stakeholder engagement and enhance our technical capabilities.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and oversee the work of team members, implementing quality control measures to guarantee accurate and timely project outcomes.
  • Innovation: Actively seek opportunities to implement new methodologies and approaches in project execution.
  • Mentorship: Guide and support junior engineers, delegating tasks and providing technical mentorship.
  • Team Integration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team, including civil, geotechnical, and structural engineers, to achieve project objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with design standards and regulations, providing necessary professional seals and signatures.
  • Engage in value engineering and alternatives analysis.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and compliance with design specifications.
  • Present project proposals and updates to clients as required.
  • Assist in business development efforts and proposal preparation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to obtain additional licenses.
  • Experience with federal projects and agencies.
  • Valid driver's license and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in lock and dam system design projects.
  • Familiarity with federal flood control design guidelines.
  • Extensive experience in flood risk management projects.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
