JOB SUMMARY: This Lead Recreation Fee Technician is located at Zion National Park. This is a permanent, full-time position, that may be a year-round or Career-Seasonal appointment. MAJOR DUTIES: This Lead Recreation Fee Technician is a permanent, full-time position, that may be a year-round or Career-Seasonal appointment. Career Seasonal appointments include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. Career-Seasonal schedule would be in a non-pay status for up to 3 pay periods, scheduled between late-October to late-November. This position serves as Lead Recreation Fee Technicians at Zion National Park, duty stationed in Springdale, Utah. The primary purpose of this position is to lead full-time, career seasonal, and temporary employees in performing a variety of duties associated with the collection, deposit, and tracking of fee revenue. In addition to leading others, the incumbents may also carry out a wide variety of clerical and technical assignments that involve the application of fee program knowledge and the policies, procedures, and practices of fee collection. Work may also involve responsibility for initiating, modifying, and improving work methods. The incumbents serve as a uniformed, front-line representative of the NPS. The major duty responsibilities are: Lead full-time, career seasonal, and temporary employees on a regular and recurring basis in which the highest subordinate grade level is GS-05. Provide information and assistance to the public in a recreation setting. Handle, track, and deposit monies using software programs to maintain fee and stock data. Use tools and equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, etc., to make sales transactions. Provide technical and policy direction according to agency fee management. Physical Demands: This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, and lifting of moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money. If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, or emergency response duties. Working Conditions: This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station. Work is often performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods.
