This position is responsible for contributing to the mission and vision of CommonSpirit by driving impactful strategies to address community health needs across the markets in the Midwest Division. This role manages grant and internally funded projects that address health needs within and outside the healthcare system including leading partnership development and overseeing project objectives, evaluation, personnel. The manager also facilitates processes and provides subject matter expertise to market-based leaders regarding Community Benefit activities, completion of the required Community Health Needs Assessment, and implementation and monitoring the hospital and clinics’ strategic response for Community Health Implementation Plans. This role is instrumental to ensure compliance with requirements for non-profit hospitals as well as ensures each ministry is collaborating with the community to positively impact documented health needs. The incumbent must have demonstrated skills in developing and managing collaborative programs with a Masters’ degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Public Administration, Health Promotion or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Manager-Healthier Commununties

  1. Manage community health improvement projects, programs, and initiatives (including grant-funded programs) with internal and external partners which includes budget management, project design, grant writing and management, granting community benefit investments, partnership development, contract management, personnel management, and program management.

  2. Manage the process for, and provide subject matter expertise to, the Hospital and Clinic strategic response to documented community health needs including: facilitating process to prioritize needs; design of evidence-based, measurable strategies; identifying key measures and evaluation methods; collecting and reporting of activities and data; monitoring progress; facilitating community partnerships; conducting research and grant writing; and other components as required to successfully execute strategies.

  3. Lead and Facilitate Community Benefit Action Teams in partnership with Market-based leadership at designated hospitals to plan for, execute, monitor, and report on Community Benefit activities. Includespartnering withleadership (e.g., Hospital Presidents, CMOs, VPs of Patient Care Services, Community Boards, etc.) to engage effective teams and aligning with community engagement, government affairs, Strategy, and other organizational priorities and strategies

  4. Drive the strategy for completion of tri-ennial Community Health Needs Assessments which may include engaging in community processes, integrating and reporting data from numerous sources, facilitating community input, writing reports, and ensuring all requirements as outlined by the IRS are met as well as working with external vendors to ensure completion of this work with fidelity to the regulatory requirements.

  5. Manage CommonSpirit Health community health improvement grant process to ensure effective implementation and allocation of grant funds to appropriate community-based agencies and ensure timely and thorough required grant reporting.

  6. Provide leadership on behalf of CHI Health in local, State, and national health coalitions, work groups, non-profit efforts, etc. that help create an effective strategy for CHI Health to meet its Community Benefit goals and effectively address health needs in each of the communities CHI Health serves.

  7. Effectively execute annual IRS tax reporting, and other reporting and communications strategies through sourcing information from internal and external partners, data gathering and analysis, aligning with internal teams (e.g., government affairs, communications, PR, tax, foundation, etc.), and designing, synthesizing, editing, and distributing meaningful stories and reports

  8. Maintain expertise on public health trends, research, and priorities to support overarching CHI Health strategies to improve community health.

  9. Collaborating with Community Benefit Financial Analyst and market-based leadership to ensure effective community benefit reporting and tracking.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum three years’ experience in public health (outside of education), health care administration, or community development required. Must have experience working with community leaders and developing collaborative partnerships, project management, budget management, and facilitation.

Pay Range

$26.38 - $38.26 /hour
