Position Description

Performs coordinative work in the business or administrative operation of a specific department or college. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a department as well as the monitoring operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise staff or student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

The Dermatology Department, Division of Dermatopathology, is looking to hire a business coordinator for our team. We offer tremendous benefits such as:

Some of the essential duties include:
  • Logging and ordering specimen slide preparation
  • Working directly with our Pathology team on problem-solving and process development improvement
  • Scribing for our Dermatopathologist
  • Working with external partners to receive, process, send, and collaborate on dermatopathology cases
  • Completing Patient/Specimen registration in EHR system to include:
    • Patient demographic
    • Insurance verification and eligibility
  • Maintaining and filing slides as needed
  • Sending and receiving reports from internal and external partners
  • Assist in other areas as needed


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or progressively responsible related experience to equal six (6) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience scribing in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working in a hospital, ambulatory clinic, or community-based setting
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience.
  • Previous Dermatology/Dermatopathology experience
