As an Associate Vice President, you would:
•Develop, implement, and direct AHC's government affairs activity to support AHC strategic priorities and serve as AHC's lead advocate on policies that help to enrich the healthcare environment, with an emphasis on AHC system projects, within the:
Federal government,
Maryland state government,
Montgomery County government,
Prince George's County government, and
Washington DC local government.
•Cultivate relationships with elected officials and administrators and help build strategic relationships between AHC executives and elected officials and administrators as appropriate.
•Solicit proposals from AHC entities for capital funding requests from federal, state, and local governments. Draft and submit requests and advocate to secure funding.
•Monitor legislation within all jurisdictions referenced above, identify those that impact AHC operations and/or strategic priorities, and organize AHC response as appropriate, i.e. coordinate in-person meetings, submit written and/or oral testimony, submit comment letters, coordinate efforts with allied stakeholders
•Oversee AHC's internal government relations personnel.
•Establish and oversee consulting relationships with multiple contract lobbying firms at various levels of government.
•Build strategic alliances with allied stakeholders on legislative and regulatory initiatives.
•Represent AHC on industry advocacy groups including the Maryland Hospital Association and the Adventist Health Policy Association (including influential Legislative and Regulatory Council within MHA where industry priorities are debated and approved for recommendation to the Executive Council).

Qualifications include:
•Deep knowledge of federal, state, and county legislative and regulatory processes
•Understanding of federal, state, and county budgets
•Ability to build strong relationships with elected officials, agency leaders, and staff.
•Ability to organize complex information so that it is simple to understand, communicate, and navigate
•Ability to travel between clinics and various offices, including the Maryland General Assembly, Montgomery County Council, and Prince George's County Council
•Ability to communicate effectively with employees, government officials, and representatives
•Ability to work independently, take initiative, and willingly accept responsibility
•Bachelor's degree in political science, Public Policy, or related field required. •Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
•Minimum 10 years experience in government relations, advocacy, and public affairs, preferably in a healthcare environment.
•Management or supervisory experience preferred.

Tobacco and Drug Statement
