  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8\:00 a.m. to 5\:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. On-call to respond during off shift hours to address any issues. 
  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience working in an external relations or community engagement environment with an emphasis on outreach to multi-cultural stakeholders, to include two (2) years of experience managing highly regulated contracts.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs, or Environmental Studies.

  • Project Work – You have strong organizational skills and the ability to track and report on multiple projects simultaneously. You work well independently and can rapidly analyze and solve problems while handling multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.

As the External Relations Aviation Environmental Program Manager, you will co-manage Environmental Engagement programs in six near-airport cities and foster relationships and partnerships with community leaders and community-based organizations in South King County. 

  • You will be responsible for overseeing grant solicitation and applications, providing technical assistance at information sessions, and maintaining program websites. Work with the South King County Community Impact Fund’s (SKCCIF) consultants on community capacity and contract compliance. Consult with the Legal Department and the Central Procurement Office to ensure resolutions and statutory limitations are adhered to and incorporated in strategic updates to the SKCCIF.
  • You will oversee the process of contract management for the SKCCIF partners, including the processing of contract changes, deadlines, compliance, and reimbursement.
  • You will develop promotional materials, ensure language access for Limited English Proficient audiences, and communicate with grant recipients and community organizations. Present updates at city council meetings and support Commission briefings. 
  • You will support the Environment and Sustainability Aviation Team with community engagement for environmental programs. Build community awareness, partnerships, and assist cross-functional teams with messaging, materials, infographics, and social media.
  • You will work with community-based organizations to plan and execute inclusive public events. Implement best practices for equitable engagement. Participate in the Commission's strategic calendaring process and assist Commissioners and Executives with preparation for community engagements. Provide staffing support as needed. 
  • You will support the community liaison program, including managing compensated community advisors and conducting equitable, multicultural outreach for the SKCCIF. Provide onboarding orientation and ongoing support. Collaborate with program consultants to mentor liaisons.
