This fully remote internship will support Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) in the United States comprised of 29 dynamic offices. RAI-US delivers lasting impact in refugee and immigrant communities by providing initial resettlement, mental health, employment, workforce development, English as a second language, and immigration services in addition to services for foreign-born survivors of crime and human-trafficking. Across program areas, volunteers provide critical support to clients, programs, and offices. Volunteer refers to anyone donating their time.
Matching Grant (MG) is a federally-funded economic self-sufficiency program operated within the Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration division of the IRC that helps refugees, asylees, and humanitarian parolees attain economic self-sufficiency and begin their journey toward integration. The Matching Grant internâs activities will center on supporting the HQ team with an assortment of administrative responsibilities geared toward building economic empowerment capacity that will benefit IRCâs offices across the United States. The central focus will be to improve the effectiveness of this program, ultimately helping refugees navigate the American job market and find employment. This position reports to the Senior Program Officer for Matching Grant.
Major Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)⢠Create and/or update technical assistance tools for MG program staff to improve program implementation, including program manual and program process documentation â¢ Support HQ training efforts to local office staff, including managing webinars in Microsoft Teams and presenting slide decks  â¢ Update resources for the network on IRCâs shared training and resource hub⢠Support HQ MG team with monthly and semiannual data reporting requirements to funder, including data analysis and data visualization⢠Provide MG program staff across 24 RAI-US local offices with data analysis and data cleaning support
Learning Objectives⢠Receive training on and exposure to IRCâs internal platforms managing electronic files, client data, financial management, and other systems used by both local offices and HQ to share and track program information⢠Learn and contribute to the IRCâs Intranet platform and file storage for internal resource structuring and sharing⢠Gain insight into the MG program and the 24 offices across the U.S. that currently implement MG programming at the local level
Requirements⢠Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident and authorized to work in the U.S.⢠Must be at least 18 years old⢠Must commit to 15 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months, October 2024-May 2025 is the preferred service term, with room for flexibility 
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies⢠Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRCâs core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality.  Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRCâs work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives.⢠Digitally savvy and innovative problem-solver with capacity to work independently.⢠Data analysis or research experience preferred.⢠Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Creative and compassionate communicator.⢠Attention to detail and accuracy.⢠Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for outreach and engagement communication. 
This position is fully remote with a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate is a compassionate humanitarian, enthusiastic about data and data visualization, and has both a practical and creative approach to their work. Successful interns are able to prioritize time and work independently on detail-oriented activities initiating proactive communication with updates and questions. 
Working Environment⢠Fully remote; intern must use their own laptop/equipment and must have a workspace they can effectively complete their service from during regularly scheduled work hours (any time zone in the U.S.)⢠However, if intern is located in New York City, laptop may be provided and intern may work at a workspace within IRC HQ during regularly scheduled work hours⢠All positions are contingent upon clearing a background check vetting process at no cost to the applicant
CompensationThis is an unpaid internship. IRC encourages students to explore academic credit through an independent study or funding that may be available through university/program. Internships will have a learning agenda and is oriented to provide organizational exposure and professional development.
