PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plan and manage Power Systems Sales Department projects for all Federal, Military and State Government opportunities. Prepare submittal packages for engineering approval. Procure equipment from vendors. Track shipments, receive equipment and arrange delivery of equipment. Manage equipment startup, testing and commissioning. Manage, track and control project costs to ensure profit goals are met. Provide individualized technical support (on-site and remote) to Sales Staff, Design Engineers, Customers and Site Contractors, either in person or through telephone or electronic communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide technical support for current and/or potential Power Systems Projects. Review project specifications and design documents. Identify the best ways to engineer and perform the job for efficiency and to meet high engineering standards.
- Interface with vendors to ensure compliance of product offerings with project plans and specifications.
- Create and assemble project technical submittal in accordance with project needs, plans, and specifications. Ensure timely submittal production and approval through correspondence with the contractor/engineer/owner.
- Create and maintain a project cost worksheet to ensure project profit goals are met. Prepare project invoicing folder for Sales Admin. Manager.
- Provides daily/weekly project team updates ensuring all sales staff, engineering staff, administration staff are informed about sales project status, problems and profit margins.
- Conduct on-site visitation of projects as needed to prepare for equipment delivery, installation and start-up. Notifies installation contractor(s) of site deficiencies that must be corrected prior to delivery, installation or start-up. Provides technical assistance and support to Start-Up personnel, Contractors, Engineers or owners as needed.
- Coordinates start-up schedule and training schedule of Field Start-Up Technicians.
- Maintains a visible presence at Start-Ups to reinforce our customer commitment on an as needed basis.
- Responsible for accurate and complete Start-Up documentation and its timely entry into the Service Systems through the Gregory Poole Service Department.
- Develops a "punch list" through Contractor, Engineer and customer feedback and ensures that the items on the list are resolved as quickly as possible.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain knowledge of current and new product offerings.
- Attend training and seminars as necessary.
SPECIAL PROJECTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes special projects as assigned by management.
- Position involves work on military installations that require high-level security clearance(s) for access. Individuals who cannot obtain security clearance need not apply - no exceptions. Former Military Construction experience and an active Top Secret security clearance is preferred.
- Position is eligible to be listed on GPEC Unlimited Electrical license upon successful completion of NC Electrical Licensing requirements.
- Position is eligible to be listed in GPEC General Contracting License upon successful completion of NC General Contractor Licensing requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
US Military Veteran, Honorably Discharged or Retired. Senior non-commissioned officer with a minimum of 10 years of military construction project management experience. Training and field experience in Mechanical and Electrical Systems. Thorough knowledge of MILCON policies, procedures and processes. Graduate of US Army Corps of Engineers Prime Power School preferred.
Work Experience:
At least 15 years of electrical/mechanical MILCON project or construction management with exposure to electric power generation and distribution systems, to include (but not limited to) diesel and natural gas engine driven equipment, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and UPS.
Physical:
Must be able to sit for long periods using PC software and talking on the telephone. Must be able to travel routinely (air and car) to visit customer locations or vendor/manufacturer facilities as needed. Must be able to stand, stoop and climb for on-site inspections.
Other:
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Must have intermediate/advanced PC skills, CAD (preferably AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office 365.
