The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University is currently seeking a faculty member at the rank of Principal Research Scientist. The primary role of the Principal Research Scientist is to apply technical expertise and experience to coordinate, design, and carry out cancer research projects while following standard operating procedures for the laboratory. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

Research Projects - 50%
Lead responsibility for entire research projects or programs, oversee the preparation of complete documentation of research activities for reference purposes, including following applicable data management protocols.

Research - 30%
Ensure the appropriate analysis, interpretation, and documentation of research findings, as well as the preparation of scientific documents and manuscripts for publication.

Training - 15%
Planning and supervising the training of new lab members in terms of proper laboratory techniques, the use of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.

Other duties may be assigned. - 5%

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia.
