Research Scientist

Augusta University invites applications for a PhD level Research Scientist (non-tenure track faculty) position in the Immunology Center of Georgia. The successful candidate will conduct collaborative cutting-edge research in immunology, inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular disease as it relates to mass cytometry and high dimensional flow cytometry. This individual will manage the Core CyTOF mass cytometer, assist faculty and postdoctoral fellows in related experimental design and data acquisition, and provide new methods related to mass cytometry for the Core.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Engaging in collaborative projects related to mass cytometry and flow cytometry.
- Assisting with design of cytometry experiments.
- Assisting with sample staining and data acquisition.
- Training and supervising users as needed.
- Maintaining the CyTOF XT instrument daily/weekly/monthly and coordinating annual instrument service.
- Maintaining all user logs and assisting with instrument iLab site to facilitate scheduling and billing of instrument and reagent use.
- Assisting with biosafety compliance.
- Assisting with general lab maintenance including inventory and supply ordering.
- Attending regional/national meetings/webinars for continuing education on emerging flow cytometry knowledge and technology.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. and/or M.D. with three years experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Immunology Experience.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and much more.
