As a Bio-Rad Account Executive, you’ll manage a territory that primarily includes the Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) and extends across North and South Carolina. Your day will be a mix of consultative and technical selling, where you'll prospect, nurture, and close sales for products like Droplet Digital PCR, Real-Time PCR, Imaging, Chromatography, and Bio-Plex Multiplex Immunoassay Systems.
You’ll balance individual and team-based sales efforts, working independently to drive results while also collaborating with colleagues to meet collective goals. Your role involves building strong relationships with Academic, Government, and Non-Profit customers, and traveling throughout your territory to engage with them directly. This position requires some overnight travel to effectively cover your region. With a salary plus commission structure and a company car provided, you’ll have the resources and support to succeed in this dynamic role.
How You’ll Make An Impact:
- Ideally, the candidate would have previously managed a complex geography (sales volume and area) where they sold across a portfolio of both instrumentation and reagents. The main challenge of this role is getting customer mindshare in a current climate where buildings have limited access and customers have limited time.
- A main element of success is actively moving opportunities through the salesforce funnel from uncovering a lead, to qualifying the need and budget, and finally to closing and post-sale nurturing. The challenge is knowing how to manage activities to ensure that opportunities are being consistently generated in each product group and then actively moved through the funnel to consistently achieve sales quotas.
- A major part of this job is being able to function well in a team environment, where your regional Account Manager’s success depends in large part on the AE’s ability to place instruments that will generate consumable revenue via the Western Blotting and Real Time Reagent workflows. The challenge is carefully orchestrating team activities in the region to touch both existing customers and uncover new prospects.
- This role is very technical in nature. The candidate needs to demonstrate to the customer fluency in how Bio-Rad’s products deliver value and solutions above and beyond the competition. The challenge is understanding the various scientific applications that are covered by our product portfolio and then leading the customer down a carefully guided conversation that results in them choosing Bio-Rad over a myriad of options.
- The Account Executive’s responsibilities include interfacing with product managers, field scientists, and other key stakeholders at Bio-Rad to present key regional opportunities that advance the collective mission for continual product improvement and new application areas. The challenge is to sell what you have and not what might be coming at some point in the future.
What You Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a life science discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
- Work Experience: 5+ years sales experience, preferably in a medical product setting, selling equipment or software, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- The need to work independently in a remote environment demands that the candidate be highly driven, self-motivated, energetic, and well organized.
- Due to the highly technical nature of this position, the candidate must demonstrate scientific understanding of the areas that we serve in our product portfolio.
- This is a technical sales position, so a keen understanding of the sales process either through previous sales experience and training, or demonstrated success in a related field is preferred.
- The need to present complex topics to members of the scientific community means the candidate must possess a high level of confidence speaking in public, and know how to articulate these complex concepts in ways that speak to both lab technicians and principal investigators. Understanding how to satisfy the unique goals of these specific contact roles is critical in moving an opportunity forward.
- There are a number of time sensitive deliverables as part of this position, so the candidate needs to demonstrate past success in working within a deadline to complete tasks on time.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $114,700 to $157,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is also eligible for quarterly commission based on assigned sales quotas.
