What are we looking for in our Technical Writer?

One of Arizona's most populous and fastest-growing counties is looking to hire a Contract Technical Writer.

Contract: 3 Month Contract

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Pay: $30-35/ hourly

The role will assist the Flood Control District Process Improvement Supervisor with documenting processes, guides, FAQs, etc. related to the county's new permitting software.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writes about technical subjects for technical and nontechnical audiences.

• Creates scripts for video tutorials.

• Tests and updates existing documentation.

• Adheres to and updates the in-house style guide.

• Creates infographics and screenshot markups.

• Creates process maps and other visuals.

• Creates end-user documentation such as user manuals, troubleshooting guides, configuration guides, administration guides

• Creates and builds out user assistance infrastructure, including how-to sections, FAQs, and Help sections.

• Updates, edits, and proofreads written materials such as product manuals, user manuals, how-to guides, and FAQs.

• Works closely with subject matter experts and configurators.

• Collects user data to determine areas of documentation that need revision and updating.        

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to write user-friendly, engaging copy about highly technical subjects.

• Ability to understand and accurately translate technical information for a general audience.

• Knowledge of coding and scripting languages, such as HTML and SQL.

• Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

• Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to understand their process and how they use the system.        

• End-user documentation experience

• Process mapping experience
