We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Technical Writers/Project Managers to join our Cultural Resources team. Although this role primarily will support projects and staff in our Phoenix office, remote work is available and we encourage applicants from AZ, CO, NM, NV, and UT to apply. Job Description

The dual purpose of this role is to prepare technical documents and manage archaeological projects from start to completion. Occasional participation in fieldwork also may be involved. Below is a list of duties for this position:

Duties:

  • Assist with, review, and negotiation of teaming agreements and/or contracts
  • Develop, track, and maintain scopes of work, schedules, and budgets
  • Manage cultural resources projects and associated tasks
  • Understand project-specific client/agency guidelines and standards for fieldwork and reporting
  • Oversee research, fieldwork, and report writing
  • Serve as primary author on reports, research designs, treatment plans, and other technical documents
  • Assist with the completion of technical reports, work plans, and other technical documents, as needed
  • Perform editorial and technical reviews of draft technical documents for content, organization, clarity, consistency, grammar, and conformity with the applicable style guide(s)
  • Ensure documents meet relevant technical and permitting authority standards
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with state and federal agency staff, tribes, and private sector clients
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and improve procedures as appropriate to assure tasks are completed effectively
  • Assist with field work on occasion

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Minimum Education: Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field
    • A PhD in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is a plus
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA)—current or willingness and ability to register once hired
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology
  • 5 years of experience in Cultural Resource Management (CRM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a cultural resource management (CRM) technical writer and project manager
  • Experience as a project manager responsible for the planning, implementation, and reporting of cultural resource projects in the Southwest and/or Great Basin regions
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate and complete records of work conducted
  • Experience organizing and maintaining data, and completing archaeological site forms
  • Ability to conduct archaeological research
  • Experience reviewing, writing, and editing complex CRM technical documents
  • Comprehension of archaeological field methods, research domains, and the cultural traditions of the Southwest and/or Great Basin
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, tribal, state (AZ, CO, NM, NV, and/or UT), and local CRM and historic preservation regulations
  • Demonstrated understanding of GPS, GIS (Tablet, ArcGIS 10)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience managing and completing projects on time, within budget
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • A high degree of professionalism and competence in project execution and delivery
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight and/or out of state
  • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
