Coordinator of Student Outreach and Service

Job Summary
The Coordinator for Student Outreach and Service provides general oversight, coordination and supervision to volunteers in support of the GGC Care Pantry operations and also supports community engagement and service initiatives for Student Life.
Responsibilities
Identifies new food rescue opportunities focused on nutrient-dense or protein-rich foods (working with local vendors to obtain usable products that would normally be discarded); manages arrangements with vendors and volunteers for conducting the rescues Troubleshoots problems with food rescues and works to create mutually acceptable and beneficial solutions; orders fresh produce, frozen meat, and non-perishable food on a weekly basis, while adhering to budget; manages the input and output of inventory for each food distribution Organizes and tracks inventory to understand best use of space; coordinates logistics for all food drives, compost and cardboard recycling, and storage needs for perishable rescued foods Partners with other leaders to ensure volunteer coverage including adherence to all polices, guidelines and protocols for volunteer engagements; determines needs and supervises volunteers for food drive, food rescue, delivery and waste management (compost/cardboard) Schedules, trains and oversees volunteers to collect, sort, package, and display food for distribution to students; collaborates with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and train volunteers to assist with outreach efforts to gardeners and groups Attends training and community meetings; maintains flexibility with time, tasks, and priorities Oversees pantry orientation and cross-training Assist with student worker training for Student Center and Student Life; Assist with the daily functions of the student volunteer management system Support Student Outreach and Service programming initiatives; Co-Advise the Grizzlies Serve student volunteer program; Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
2 Year / Associate Degree in social work, non-profit management, or related field Minimum of one year of volunteer and/or professional experience in the social services field, emergency food sector, and/or food pantry
Preferred Qualifications
4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in social work, non-profit management, or related field Experience training, managing, and retaining volunteers Experience with, and knowledge of, food pantry operations/initiatives, and volunteer programming
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to exercise good judgement and be respectful of the confidential nature of client information Skills in interpersonal communications and problem solving Skills in organizational and time-management Skills in verbal and written communications Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook Knowledge of data collection related to food pantry services for evaluation and reports
