Patient Access Specialist

The patient access specialist will be responsible for assisting physical practices with administrative aspects of patient care. This person needs to be an expert in customer service and ensure patients are checked in as appropriate prior to their visit and that all their needs are met at the end of their visit. 

  • Must complete patient check-in when appropriate including verifying demographics and insurance eligibility, facilitating completion of all necessary patient forms and collecting co-pays when appropriate.
  • Will complete the patient check-out process including scheduling of follow-up tests, procedures or appointments, collecting payments due at end of visit, providing patients with summary of visit and ensuring patient has everything needed before leaving visit.
  • Responsible for answering phone calls, handling what is able and appropriately triaging the rest, ensuring proper documentation in the patient record. 

Requirements

  • Must have a flu shot or willing to get one
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in customer service industry
  • Working knowledge of computer, with proficiency in office automated tools
  • Effective communicator w/ all levels of staff, patients and customers
  • Able to respond positively to fluctuations in patient flow
  • Multi-tasker and team player
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment with patience and compassion
  • Self-directed, motivated, resourceful, demonstrates initiative

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience in healthcare field or patient access experience in a hospital and/or ambulatory care setting 
  • Experienced user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Epic

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $20.00 - $20.00 Per Hour
