Human Resource Generalist Payrate: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Today, the Rescue Mission Alliance operates 19 Thrifty Shopper stores throughout Upstate New York and has been proudly serving the community for over 60 years. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resource Generalist to join our HR team. To be the ideal candidate, you should have a strong HR background and be capable of handling a variety of tasks related to employee relations, recruitment, and compliance. This is a full-time position supporting our Thrifty Shopper Stores.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, and interviewing candidates & closing the recruitment cycle. 
  • Must be familiar or willing to learn the pre-employment background screening process.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees, including conducting orientation sessions and processing new hire paperwork.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related issues, including benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with benefit enrollments, employee leave requests, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and disability.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and resolving conflicts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist with performance management, including conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to employees and managers.
  • Manage HR-related projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (Paycor).
  • Valid NYS Driver License in compliance with Rescue Mission safety policy.
  • Comfort in presenting to an audience of varying sizes; public speaking ability preferred.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
