Director of Sales

We are working with a fast-growing food/beverage manufacturer based in Central NY, that is looking to expand their leadership team. They are looking for a talented Director of Sales to lead their private label/co- manufacturing side of the business. This person will be responsible for building and maintaining accounts with food manufacturers and retail grocery/big box/C-store chains for all private label and contract manufacturing accounts. This is a leadership position that will continue to grow, develop and manage a sales team, drive new business while also focusing on existing relationships. Job Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities in adjacent markets, product segments, and new applications for relevant products
- Proactively address challenges in areas such as pricing, delivery, customer communication, and product quality, ensuring solutions that support sales targets.
- Maintain a close watch on the competitive landscape and evolving market trends to keep the sales strategy agile and responsive to market changes.
- Forge strong partnerships with Operations, Marketing, and Finance to ensure the alignment of sales objectives with company goals.
- Play an active role on the senior leadership team, providing strategic input on business planning, sales forecasting, and growth opportunities.
- Drive business development initiatives to secure key accounts and expand the company's presence in new markets.
- Participate in high level company presentations/meetings, offering insights into sales performance and strategic direction.
- Develop and implement detailed sales forecasts, strategic sales plans, and pricing models that promote revenue growth.
- Analyze sales data to adjust strategies as needed, ensuring alignment with the company's financial and operational goals.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with food/beverage sales – B2B, private label/co-manufacturing relationships
- Solid background with category management, trade development, and revenue growth management in the food/beverage CPG industry
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field required; MBA preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and address business challenges effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in coaching, team development, and engagement, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the month for customer, broker, and headquarters meetings.
- Must be located on the east coast near an airport with the ability to drive or fly to Central NY as necessary
