Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Event Director to lead our banquet team at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of event planning and execution, ensuring seamless experiences for our guests.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of experience in a supervisory role in a large banquet or events site. You will oversee the set up of function rooms, maintain banquet equipment inventory, and supervise the clean up of function rooms.

Responsibilities
  • Interview, hire, train, and recommend performance evaluations for banquet staff.
  • Supervise the set up of function rooms, including placement of linens, silver, china, and glassware according to event order specifications.
  • Maintain and control banquet equipment inventory, including but not limited to china, cutlery, glassware, and linen.
  • Verbally communicate with the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staff, as well as the guest host, to ensure timely execution of events and quality service.
  • Enter billing information into point of sale/automated sales system to generate a final guest check.
  • Process payroll for each event, including calculating number of hours worked and gratuity distribution.
  • Evaluate event outcomes to identify areas for improvement and achieve maximum profitability.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of union contract and schedule accordingly and to needs of business.
  • Able to walk space frequently to ensure guests have a clean and presentable environment.
  • Ability to review BEO's thoroughly and collaborate with Director of Catering & Head Chef to execute events to meet and exceed guests' expectations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to staff.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we provide excellent benefits and opportunities for career growth and development.
