What we want

The Logistics Coordinator, under supervision, oversees and ensures that day-to-day logistical activities are consistent. Serves as the subject matter expert and provides guidance to incident logistics section personnel during response operations.

Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor. May require working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or on-call duty. Provides quality customer service to internal and external customers/clients.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Licenses and Certifications:

Must have a Class A driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft programs. Basic mechanical aptitude consistent with performance of maintenance functions.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.

Preferred Experience:

Five years of experience in a first responder organization with two years of experience in a first responder medical or veterinary medical organization.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Familiarity with emergency management reimbursement process.

Familiarity with emergency management accountability procedures.

Responsibilities:

VET Program Logistics Duties : Serves as Logistics Chief during deployments. Oversees and ensures that day-to-day logistical activities are consistent. Oversees and audits all VET inventory in a deployable state. Coordinates and ensures the maintenance of an accurate online inventory system. Trains VET members to assist with logistics duties, such as maintenance of the online inventory maintenance system, auditing of the inventory, distributing and tracking inventory from storage locations, etc. Coordinates and maintains the VET calendar for the team and organizes it based on deployments. Plans and implements medical supply drop offs and purchases for the VET team.

Shipping/Delivery Duties: Assists with reimbursement packages to include providing beginning and ending inventories. Trains staff to support, maintain, and/or ship required training materials and equipment in support of course deliveries. Coordinates technical operations and maintenance training for instructional and support staff on program equipment. Coordinates the development and implementation of equipment maintenance, shipping schedules, and vendor performance with managers and the shipping vendor.

Business Duties: Works with the business office and system procurement office to develop requests for proposals for shipping services. Maintains shipping service records. Prepares, tracks, and reconciles purchase orders and invoices with both vendors and the business office. Monitors the budget for supply purchases and deployments. Serves as the VET point of contact for coordinating grant funded training program equipment and supporting materials purchases with the training managers, program director, and business office. Evaluates vendor proposals and recommends shipping vendors to the program director and training managers

Deployment Duties : Drives a vehicle to carry passengers and/or medical supplies to deployment locations. Deployment sites may be within Texas or outside of the state. Performs other duties as assigned.
