We're seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Specialist to help us promote our clinics and educate the community about available healthcare and insurance enrollment services.

The role:

As the Community Engagement Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting outreach education and enrollment activities to reach low-income, uninsured individuals. From coordinating focus groups to developing outreach strategies, you'll play a key role in promoting access to healthcare services at The Center and Affordable Care Act (ACA) healthcare insurances, including CenCal.

We would love to hear from someone who:

Has an AA/AS Degree in Health, Social Science, Education, Psychology, Human Development, Liberal Studies, or a BA/BS in a related field. Is bilingual and biliterate ( required ). Has a valid California Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.

As the Community Engagement Specialist, you will:

Conduct community outreach, facilitate focus groups, provide educational presentations, and provide outreach and enrollment assistance to patients and individuals who are uninsured. Support Center patients and community members by linking them to Covered California insurances and CenCal. Develop inclusive, culturally responsive strategies for conducting community outreach and education activities for low-income, uninsured and underinsured individuals. Responsible for meeting Title X and other grant outcomes regarding community outreach and education targeting historically underserved populations. Assists with the development of The Center’s Outreach Plan. Cultivate working relationships and robust collaborations with community partners and represents The Center at community meetings as assigned. Attend monthly clinic staff meetings. Provide ACA training for Health & Prevention Division staff. Maintain The Center’s Facebook Page, Instagram and posts updates on the agency Intranet.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.  Must comply with the CAPSLO COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, either being fully vaccinated or sign a COVID-19 vaccination declination form. Based on program, a current TB skin test/Chest X-Ray may be required.  Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable job requirements and background requirements. A criminal history clearance is required prior to employment.  Upon hire, agency staff will check the Megan’s Law (or the current sexual predator website) to ensure each staff being hired is clear for employment. Agency staff will check the website annually to ensure all program staff are cleared to work.
