Job Overview

AECOM is looking for a Community Engagement Specialist to be based in our New York office.


The primary function of the Community Engagement Specialist (CES) is to strategize and oversee outreach initiatives and activities related to planning, design, relocation, construction, and other relevant areas within specific developments of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

This position will collaborate closely with resident associations and stakeholders to ensure effective communication regarding program updates, actively seeking resident feedback on critical matters daily, and facilitating briefings on relocation, construction, and other program elements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement multi-stakeholder meetings according to the established engagement strategy related to Project Pre-Planning/Procurement, Design/Relocation, and Construction.

2. Manage and provide consistent communication addressing inquiries and concerns raised by residents.

3. Engage residents through various methods, including phone outreach, distribution of informational materials, and door-to-door engagement.

4. Schedule regular updates for stakeholders, Tenant Associations, and residents.

5. Present information at meetings and workshops.

6. Gather updates from construction, relocation, and other teams to relay and present to residents.

7. Ensure that all materials are clear, informative, and accessible, including necessary translations.
