Position Summary

The Manager of Frontend Engineering will Lead a small team of Software and Front-End Engineers and participates in the design and development of high-performance, distributed, state-of-the-art software using Java, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and UI frameworks to create unique features and a compelling user experience on the SHOP.COM site. Designs and develops new software and user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

The Manager of Frontend Engineering role primarily focuses on strategic leadership, architecture guidance, and hands on technical contributions. Leads Software Engineers to effectively design and develop great user experiences Coordinates team members’ workloads to ensure timely completion of projects Collaborates with members of project team in agile development environment to effectively develop specifications, feasibility analysis, testing requirements, and deployment Writes original code and revises existing code to effectively meet project standards Creates, documents, and implements test plans, scripts, and tests to ensure optimal functionality. Document changes according to the company's standards Identifies coding errors and provides recommendation for system improvements Manages and direct technical personnel Debugs, analyzes and fixes application problems/issues Designs related database schema and works with Database Administrators to deploy and tune performance Collaborates with product managers, designers, and other members of the project team to conceive features and functionality, identify requirements specification, conduct feasibility analysis, and determine testing requirements, and project scheduling Optimizes application performance by diagnosing issues and improving code Provides troubleshooting support for production systems Create tools or automated processes to streamline front-end development and metrics tracking. Utilize expertise in front-end development paradigms, UX engineering, and modern responsive development techniques effectively. The Manager of Frontend Engineering is a critical team member dedicated to crafting exceptional user experiences, keeping up with the latest technologies, and contributing to the success of our online shopping platforms and the opportunity to lead our transformation into micro frontend frameworks.

Skills

Proficiency in UI Design, JavaScript, HTML and CSS absolutely required Familiarity with Java, database technologies (SQL), model-view-controller architecture and implementation, and REST services is highly desirable Above moderate levels of English speaking, writing, and reading comprehension; active listening; critical thinking; problem solving; analysis; programming; troubleshooting; leadership; and judgment Understanding of secure coding practices and web security Ability to develop responsive web applications. Passionate about high-quality, high-performing web experiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field Previous lead or management experience preferred 7 + years’ experience in Software Development environment and ecommerce web-based applications 3+ years’ experience building Web User Experiences and designing User Interfaces 5+ years’ experience with designing and developing using JavaScript, CSS, HTML and UI frameworks 3+ years’ experience with software development, release and QA tools 5+ years’ experience in full lifecycle development in a management role preferred Or a combination of equivalent experience, education, and training
