About You
We are looking for a product-centric Engineer ready to drive development of our React web app and backend APIs as an architect, an individual contributor, and a leader of outsourced devs. The ideal candidate is passionate about aviation and strongly believes that existing air travel experiences can and should be improved upon. Professionally, you've shipped complete, full-stack production apps using React on the frontend and node, python or an equivalent language on the backend. You have experience managing remote team members, coordinating across time zones, and cross-cultural communication. You're intimately familiar with feature development but you also are knowledgeable and capable when it comes to related areas of development, like deployment, continuous integration, and hosting. You know how to delegate tasks to other engineers and measure progress; you have previous experience doing this professionally. You realize that in a startup it's important to be versatile, adaptable, and to wear many hats; you're an expert at that. You understand that leadership isn't just about having a 'manager' title; it's about setting the standard, rigorous thinking, and leading by example.
Specific Responsibilities of this Role
This role will be the primary owner and developer across all of our applications and backend systems. You'll be the point person on development, and responsible for coordinating development tasks with other engineers on the project. Specifically, you'll be responsible for making sure that the development process is transparent, effective, and generally well-architected. Additionally, we expect you to have the flexibility to jump across the stack to pitch in where needed on either our React Native mobile app, our backend services, or elsewhere.
Requirements
+ 8+ years of professional web or mobile development experience.
+ 1.5+ years of production experience with React.
+ Strong bias for action and shipping product.
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
