The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is the state agency that plans, develops, coordinates, and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of:

intellectual disability and related disabilities autism spectrum disorder traumatic brain injury spinal cord injury and similar disability Job Responsibilities  
Under the general supervision of the Lead Licensed Psycho-Educational Specialist (LPES), this position provides administrative support to the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Eligibility clinical/evaluation staff. This position also provides support to other functions of the Division and completes other duties as assigned with a moderate level of individual and/or customer accountability.

Manages schedules for autism evaluators to include scheduling, re-scheduling, and/or adjusting. Provides excellent customer service to individuals applying for autism eligibility. Coordinates supplies and vehicles for ASD Eligibility staff. Participates as a team member and provide back-up assistance to other staff. Completes and performs other duties as assigned. *The location for this position is at Whitten Regional Center in Clinton, SC

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and at least four years of administrative clerical work experience related to administrative support or an equivalent combination of education and administrative clerical work experience related to administrative support.

Effective communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to work cooperatively with families, professionals, and the public.

Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Word, Excel and current office management practices. Knowledge of grammatical rules, clerical formats and/or journalistic principles. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to schedule workloads, establish routing systems and maintain applicant and Division records. Ability to work professionally and effectively with the public in handling inquiries and communicating information. General understanding of working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability or related disabilities and families.

Immunization:  If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment. 

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
