Job Title: Family Services Specialist II

Hiring Range: $44,383.00 to $53,000.00

Full Time or Part Time: Full Time

Job Summary:

The Family Services Specialist II is a critical role in the Commonwealth of Virginia's human services program. This position requires a strong understanding of social work principles and practices, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans for clients, utilizing casework methods and social work principles.
  • Provide case management services to monitor compliance and ensure delivery of appropriate services to clients.
  • Coordinate services within specific program areas, including Employment Services, Child Care, Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoptions.
  • Interview and assess client needs, providing counseling and referrals as necessary.
  • Present cases to determine appropriate services and write/implement service plans.
  • Manage program waiting lists and track expenditures, preparing and submitting budget estimates as required.
  • Complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary and interagency teams providing services to clients.
  • Conduct overall monitoring of programs in specific areas of responsibility.
  • Serve as a resource to clients and the community in area of expertise.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area. A BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.

The selected candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make sound judgments within the framework of existing laws, policies, and regulations.
