ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of service-related support functions including, but not limited to, the repair, maintenance, and performance of IQ/OQ/PT of assigned products. The products are to include SSI owned demo equipment, instruments returned from customers and customer owned products.

This position is responsible for repair, maintenance and installation of assigned products.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Providing repair and maintenance support on assigned products. (Daily) Accurate documentation and reporting of all repairs and product failures and when applicable providing design change and improvement recommendations. (Daily) Timely submission of all required paperwork and documentation as required. (Daily) May complete in-house bench repair work from time to time, while majority of work time will handle field service calls under limited supervision. (Daily) Day and overnight travel in the local region to include possible assignments in a neighboring region. (Weekly) Provide customers and field personnel with telephone technical support, repair parts shipments and documentation required to effect instrument repairs, maintenance, and installations. (Daily)

SCOPE:

This position’s primary focus is to learn how to provide quality, efficient service to our customers and to support the regional staff in the performance of the same. Engineers will be assigned as specific territory/customers as they continue to develop their service skills.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbent should be proficient at effectively and efficiently troubleshooting and repairing instrument problems, performing installations, and providing, when necessary, customer and staff training.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbent should have at least Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; while a bachelor’s degree is preferred. At least four (4) years of field or in-house exposure to analytical instrumentation repair work, is required. Incumbent should have proficiency in at least five product line areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May include frequent bending, standing, stooping, walking, talking, sitting/driving for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of instrumentation/parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 40 pounds routinely throughout the workday. Will also be required from time to time to assist in lifting heavier equipment. Incumbent must have use of hand to finger senses, in order to use and grasp hand tools to repair instrumentation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards in particular to lab safety protocol. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures and/or customer dictated policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is a field-based role that may work in the service repair lab from time to time, while the majority of work days are spent traveling (day and overnight) to customer locations within the region. The position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work alone on projects, as well as, collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at several different work sites during-the-course of a business day in-order to support the needs of Shimadzu customers. Extra hours may periodically be required, in-order to fulfill the functions required by this position. The position will include contact with SSI employees and outside customers that requires prompt and friendly handling of all related inquires.
