As an Avionics Network Engineer you will:

  • Design the distributed network architecture for the Gateway Modular Spacecraft.
  • Perform Requirements Development and Management.
  • Perform Verification Testing.
  • Perform other tasks assigned.

Here's What You'll Need:

Requisition Qualifications:

Desired Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a
    related area.
  • Experience with either Avionic Electrical or Software Systems Design.
  • Experience with the following major spacecraft systems and disciplines:
    • Propulsion
    • Thermal
    • ECLSS
    • Power
    • Electrical Systems
  • Thorough knowledge of Computer Networking technology, such as:
    • IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) standards
    • ARINC 664 Part 7 Aircraft Data Network
    • Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet Networks
    • SAE AS 6802 Time Triggered Standard
    • Internet Protocol Suite (IPS)
    • Hardware Cabling Standards
  • Experience with:
    • Network Design
    • Network Management Tools
    • IT Security
    • Network Troubleshooting Techniques
  • Familiarity with commercial products available in computer networking technology.
  • Ability to interpret network data captures, such as pcap files.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE) experience.
  • Experience with Time Triggered systems such as TDMA.
  • Fault tolerance/reliability experience.
  • Experience with spacecraft avionics and circuit design or analysis.
  • Experience applying computer network technology in space systems.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
