Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical oversight and management of engineering projects, interfacing with program customers, and communicating technical issues across a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight and management of engineering projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Interface with program customers, including International Space Station (ISS), Gateway, Human Landing Systems, and Orion, to deliver technology insight and meet program requirements.
  • Communicate and coordinate technical issues across a range of stakeholders, including engineering and aerospace programs.
  • Manage branch budgets, complete administrative tasks, and support PPBE, authorize branch procurements, and negotiate customer cost/schedule changes.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including assigning and evaluating work, recommending personnel actions, taking disciplinary actions, and identifying training needs and developing employees.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation, championing NASA's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.
Requirements
  • Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
  • Selected candidates will be required to complete a financial disclosure statement.
  • A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped them with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.

NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions, recognizing NASA's unique aerospace work.

GS-14: To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, including providing technical oversight and management of engineering projects, interfacing with program customers, and communicating technical issues across a range of stakeholders.
