Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Avionics System Engineer to join our team on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As a key member of our Avionics Projects and Systems section, you will play a critical role in supporting NASA's human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the success of our services, which must meet and exceed all standards and expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the SE activities for the Communication Low Orbit Project (Comm LEO)
  • Supporting engineering flight project schedules, procurement documentation, budget, and system requirements documents
  • Developing and supporting sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering
  • Conducting product life cycle reviews, coordinating integration, verification, and validation activities
  • Working with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications
  • Performing system engineering functions of projects and providing user input feedback during the design process
  • Working with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end-item documentation
  • Reviewing verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements
  • Participating and contributing to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews
  • Performing and reviewing system-level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance
  • Participating in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware
  • Working with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses
  • Working and presenting schedule and progress to customers
  • Maintaining good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment


Requirements

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies, including model-based systems engineering, are essential. Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements is also required. Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection, is preferred. Experience with NASA processes and 10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering are also highly valued.
