Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

Monitors and orders supply in efficient quantities to support the operations of serviced areas. Maintains and delivers supplies to serviced supply areas with inventory based on set par levels, JIT levels, and department requests. Receives incoming supplies and equipment. Notifies the Purchasing Department, Supply Chain Supervisor, and Supply Chain Lead Technician of any discrepancies or damages regarding the incoming materials. Scans/create requisitions and uploads orders to Purchasing for assigned products and supplies. Scan products and upload data into the computer. Visually inspects 100% of packages that are not factory sealed. Continuously update and enter quantities received with accuracy. Accepts supplies into the Supply Chain Services inventory areas, including STAT Inventory, Bulk Inventory, and JIT bins to be distributed. Directs stock into proper location and rotates stock as necessary. Develops efficient par levels for JIT and Bulk inventories, along with Patient Floor inventories, and manages them to support distribution operations (. deleting or adding to stock levels) as necessary. Maintains contact with general staff to resolve discrepancies. Ensures hospital-wide compliance with policies and procedures for the timely delivery, receipt, accuracy, and accountability of all incoming materials. Notifies supervisor immediately of problems regarding departmental policies and procedures.  Expedites materials and equipment by USPS, UPS, FedEx, or a common carrier. Inspect all contents inside packages. The packing slip must correspond with the purchase order. Correct packing string – Example – ca/4bx/25ea = 100 ea Vendor and vendors’ product # must correspond with the purchase order and the quantity ordered Assists in sorting, routing, and distribution of USPS mail, packages, and interoffice mail. Assists in processing outgoing U. S. Postal Service, FedEx, and mailing company, letters, and packages for shipment. Packs, seals, weighs and prepares paperwork. Operates hospital vehicles for courier deliveries safely and effectively by all motor vehicle ordinances, laws, and codes. Ensures that assigned vehicles are in safe and proper operating condition. Daily inspections and reports of any vehicle deficiencies. Transports mail, materials, and assets as scheduled over the most efficient routes to the designated location with a set time frame. Completes all courier runs within the set schedule. (Measured as reported by departments and recorded on courier log). Delivers goods to appropriate destinations. Identifies inactive and outdated items and forwards inventory corrections and adjustment requests to the manager for approval. Reviews stock status with manager to identify items for deletion or inventory reduction. Maintains records, reports, statistics, and files by department, as required. Assists in training new employees, and orients them to the policies and procedures of the hospital and the standards of the department. Cleans and inventories code carts and precaution carts promptly. Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies. Keeps department in a clean and orderly condition.

Required Qualifications 

Educational development is normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent, plus infectious and hazardous waste training a plus. Able to work in a sometimes-stressful environment and continue to maintain a positive attitude towards peers and supervisor. Ability to maintain strict adherence to all safety standards and guidelines set by the hospital, local, state, and federal regulatory officials. Must have good written and verbal skills Capable of reaching, pushing, and lifting materials weighing 70 pounds 10% of the workday and the majority (90%) weighing from 5-40 pounds. Experience or demonstrated ability to learn an automated inventory system (This will normally be acquired over two years in a distribution setting or one plus year in Supply Chain Service at Mount Auburn Hospital) Valid Massachusetts driver's license, with a good driving record. Experience with driving a cube van and the courier/city van and the operation of warehouse heavy equipment, ., forklifts and motorized pallet jacks preferred

Physical Requirements & Environment 

Much standing, lifting and walking. Occasionally lifting and carrying weights up to 30 pounds and items of lesser weight frequently. Exposure to various environmental conditions, due to extensive travel through the hospital. Working in the store room environment around heavy equipment, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and safety issues. Works in the Supply Chain Services area with exposure to dust, noise, odors, and sometimes-extreme temperatures. Exposure to infectious and hazardous waste materials, and the opportunity for injury from heavy lifting or other hazards at the loading dock area. Consistently uses sharps safety devices as designed to prevent injuries to self. Complies with precautions, as defined by Infection Control staff, for patients requiring isolation.
