About this Role:
The Retail Associate & Warehouse Support plays a crucial role in facilitating customer interactions by assisting with donations, product selection, and purchases. Responsibilities include operating a cash register, addressing customer inquiries, and maintaining a tidy and organized store and warehouse environment. Additionally, this position involves managing the security of merchandise and cash handling, as well as supporting the logistics of incoming donations and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in purchasing items from the store.
- Handle cash transactions, prepare receipts, and balance the cash drawer.
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and provide necessary information.
- Load and organize clothing in the bailer machine and manage incoming donations.
- Monitor the warehouse area to prevent theft and ensure safety.
- Inspect donated items to confirm usability according to established guidelines.
- Prepare donation receipts and maintain accurate records.
- Foster positive relationships with donors to enhance the organization's image.
- Distribute donations to appropriate locations within the warehouse.
- Assist in the transportation of items and maintain the vehicle used for pickups.
- Support the driver with navigation and route planning.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any issues.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, with prior experience in retail preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in warehouse operations or similar roles is also required, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge.
Certifications/Licenses:
None required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This role requires the ability to lift and carry heavy materials (over 50 lbs.) frequently. The position involves a combination of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching, with limited periods of sitting.
Working Environment:
Work is conducted in a retail store and warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and other environmental factors.
