Assistant Estimator

The Assistant Estimator assists in preparing estimates for engineering and design-build construction projects. This position will assist in preparing lump sum bids, proposals, unit cost, and quantities for various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

Assist in quantifying scopes of work for material and labor pricing.

Assist with soliciting, evaluating and pre-qualifying small and disadvantaged businesses and subcontractors.

Assist in assembling and sending out subcontractor bid packages.

Assist in preparing material, specialty and standard equipment pricing.

Assist in preparing subcontractor labor market studies and pricing for bids.

Assist in documenting cost history, data base management and estimating process.

Assist in developing project summary schedules.

Assist with the evaluating and conditioning subcontractor and supplier quotes.

Assist in presenting estimates to external and internal clients.

Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant degree Required or

Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Required

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Software knowledge such as Quotesoft, Accubid, Oracle, and PowerBI desired.

Knowledge of document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.

Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
