Reporting to the Vice President of University Advancement, the Executive Director/Senior Director will serve as a member of the senior leadership team. They will determine the strategic direction, key performance indicators, organizational design, and long-term tactical goals for Alumni and Parent Engagement in support of our 50,000 alumni and parents living across the globe. The incumbent will be responsible for providing a dynamic environment in which alumni, donors, parents, and friends are thoughtfully engaged in person, online and in print; creative ideas towards achieving stretch goals are encouraged, and institutional collaboration is a priority.The Executive Director/Senior Director will be responsible for providing leadership, management oversight, and strategic guidance for the Alumni and Parent Engagement team (currently 4 direct reports and direction for several additional staff members who handle social media, athletics and major events). This department is critical to Bryant’s overall success and is most effective when working as part of an integrated advancement model. The executive director will be responsible for leading a team in creating and introducing new ideas and incremental changes, balanced by a respect for the traditions of Bryant University.

Principal Accountabilities Assume a leadership role within the University serving as the principal advocate for the alumni body as well as being a credible authority and spokesperson to the alumni body regarding University goals and activities while serving as the principal contact between the University and alumni around the world. Engages alumni in the life of the college through exceptional customer service, and meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, personal and professional development, events, and programs. Design, plan, implement, and evaluate effective alumni and parent programming, engagement strategies, and alumni and parent support, and communicate this plan with university-wide stakeholders and external constituents. Provide strategic direction for overall operations. Spearhead industry-leading initiatives to increase alumni and parent engagement. Collaborate with other University departments in planning and executing a wide range of special events (i.e. Homecoming, Reunions, Family and Friends Weekend) and affinity programing that attract alumni and parent involvement and support outreach goals. Coordinate with colleagues in Communications and Stewardship the content development for monthly e-newsletters and quarterly print publication, Engage. Working in partnership with other University divisions and departments, that further engage alumni and parents in the day-to-day activities of Bryant including partnering with the Development Office to identify and cultivate alumni and parents for roles as potential volunteers and/or donors on the Alumni Leadership Council, the Parents Leadership Council and coordination for established and emerging Councils (Deans, Arts & Sciences, Health and Behavioral Sciences, Trustee Emeriti). Builds and manages an effective volunteer mentorship program that supports the objective of engaging alumni in meaningful volunteer opportunities and serving as a source for alumni talent and resources for students, faculty, and staff. Coordinate the oversight of technology platforms essential to the operations of the Alumni and Parent Engagement Office including website, email marketing, event registration, mentoring, and social media. Directly supervises the Alumni and Parent Engagement team, providing management, advice, support, and guidance of day-to-day operations. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred. This position is best filled by an individual with 10 or more years of relevant work experience in Alumni and Parent Engagement and demonstrated success in managing effective efforts in alumni engagement with measurable and significant increases in alumni engagement rates, particularly associated with a successful comprehensive campaign. Proven skills at building, utilizing, and supporting effective volunteer structures to meet goals. Knowledge of technology platforms. Requires the ability lead teams and to work effectively and collaboratively with various groups and diverse constituencies, creativity and insight in identifying critical collaborations between institutional goals and needs and alumni/prospective donors, excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills are important; candidate must be able to articulate the needs, interests and accomplishments of Bryant University to important constituencies and the ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities is essential.
