Position Objective
The Material Planning Supervisor leads a professional team of Material Planners as liaisons between Program Management and Operations to ensure adequate material supply is available. The Material Planning Supervisor ensures coordination of orders for material in conjunction with Procurement, at levels that achieve the appropriate days on-hand inventory and being cognizant of inventory valuation and storage space utilization. The Material Planning Supervisor has oversight of all WIP materials and ensures materials are available to operate. They provide timely and quality support to business stakeholders concerning material availability. This role supervises the Material Planners to ensure team safety, quality, productivity, administration with the intent of continuous improvement, and leading results to achieve department and plant goals. 

Position Summary
Material Planning leadership to meet process and procedural deliverables across all programs and ensure deadlines are met. Review goals with team and drive them to do so. Prepare performance reviews and address any issues as seen. Monitor production status and identify delays. Assist in meeting production deadlines to achieve maximum performance. Lead discussion with management on progress/issues identified. Familiar with all aspects of Material Planning.

Primary Responsibilities
Oversee, train, drive, and support the team to achieve following deliverables: Place demand, create requisitions, monitor and revise based off Sales & Ops. Coordination with Procurement to pull-in / push-out parts, expedite past due orders, and manage status of delivery. AFB material oversight for levels, accuracy, and expired materials. Maintain inventory levels for As Required materials using Min/Max tracking. Maintain/Track BOM updates in Oracle. Participate in end of month inventory reconciliation and closure process. Inventory management and tracking of all production BOM materials during manufacturing thru EOL. Job Order creation / tracking of build and shipment facilitation. Escalation to Program Managers & Operations management of any parts issues or potential line down situations. Facilitate rework process: part availability, rework package, and progress tracking. Coordination with Shipping on FG, sub-assembly, and RMA shipments. Manages and develops production plans based on customer demand. Review and release work orders to meet production plans ensuring adequate material quantities are available through the proper use of material profiles. Coordinate with Purchasing concerning purchase items which impact the MPS or Production Plan. Communicate all changes to the production schedule to the program manager, manufacturing, and manufacturing support functions, securing approvals and authorizations as required according to the production scheduling guidelines. Review customer's request to return product with the appropriate engineer and program manager, and process RMA work order as required. Review ECO's and ECN's from the customer and coordinate the implementation with the program manager, manufacturing, and manufacturing support functions. Resolve obsolete/End of Life part issues with the program manager and purchasing. Report, analyze, monitor, and disposition excess material in conjunction/coordination with the program manager. Inventory management and tracking of all parts for new development programs from sourcing to production release. Coordination with Engineering on new part releases, revisions, and FAI / qualification activities. Hard Pegging demand control and job order assignment. Collaborative effort with Program Manager on status of parts to meet contractual, delivery, and financial deliverables. Respond to customer requests and facilitate answers within the organization in conjunction with the program manager. Manage/coordinate all material support for Sparton. Attend production status meetings as required. Works with on-line material ordering system. Will exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Supervisory specific items: You will leverage your team’s experience and skills to support supply chain and manufacturing service, inventory control, critical parts availability, expiration dated and materials monitoring and control. Accountable for ensuring that all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, performance standards, disciplinary processes, other workplace and Company policies, procedures and practices.  Communicates with various levels of management and customers to ensure that customer expectations are met and issues are resolved. Proactively working with cross functional teams, internally and externally, to ensure that the company meet or exceeds the expectations of our customers. Investigates service failures, and develops, implements and monitors appropriate corrective and preventive actions. Reviews, recommends and develops changes in operations, processes and system. Ensures proper implementation and maintenance of approved changes. Provide continual process improvements as well as implementation of new processes. Strategically manage Material Planning organization within Logistics department in compliance with company’s policies and vision, ensuring quality standards are consistently met.  Staff, train, evaluate, motivate and develop team members. Strong verbal, interpersonal communication and leadership skills. Ability to coordinate people and product to ensure materials resources and schedule are met. Must understand receiving, inventory control, material flow, manufacturing production, and shipping processes. Manage reports, measurement of KPI’s and statistical analysis. Ensure a high degree of inventory accuracy in ERP system (Oracle). Computer proficiency skills required. Support daily management activities, including developing and reporting on metrics. Problem resolution, assignment of action items, and defining target dates for completion of assignments / activities. Monitor and drive improvements to cycle counting; support annual physical inventory process. Use RCCA activities to drive continuous improvement and provide solutions to problems that are effective and sustainable.
Required Education and Experience
Preferred:
Bachelors degree in Planning, Business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain or similar education and 4 years of supervisory experience in Materials Planning or Supply Chain in high volume distribution environment. ACSM Certification in Planning or CPIM preferred. Required: Associates degree in Planning, Business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain or similar discipline and 4 years of experience in manufacturing or similar related experience with 2 years of supervisory experience.
Qualifications
Preferred:
Industry experience in Aerospace and Defense desirable. Experience in steering and implementing strategic initiatives. Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix structure. Proficient with material resource planning systems and software. Excellent knowledge of the supply chain process
Required: Must be a U.S. citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.  Must be able to work and communication cross-functionally throughout the organization Solid problem-solving skills Must have good time-management skills and high attention to detail Ability to calculate, analyze and apply business, financial and statistical analysis. Computer proficiency, proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and Oracle. Ability to generate data reports, interpret, and drive accountable actions down to team members. Comfort in speaking to large groups and in 1-1 consultation with employees. Comfort in working in a manufacturing environment Effective communication skills both written and oral.
