General Description

This position has oversight responsibilities that include coordinating, planning, and implementing services and programs assigned to the Office of Student Accessibility and Support, including managing disability support services; managing comprehensive student support and retention services and programs; managing short-term, crisis counseling, and external community referrals for long-term counseling, virtual counseling, and/or in-patient care; managing the virtual counseling software platform; maintaining systems of private and confidential records, hiring, training, and development of professional staff; administering and managing designated budget(s); coordinating workshops and seminars; managing some grants and grant proposals, and regularly assessing the provided services of the Office of Student Accessibility and Support . Student Accessibility and Support Assistant
Coordinator of Disability Support Services Minimum Education/Experience Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or closely related field

Minimum (3) years’ experience providing support and/or counseling services to individuals with disabilities in an educational setting.

Minimum (2) years’ experience supervising staff and overseeing departmental operations.

Equivalency/Substitution: A Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a closely related field and a minimum (5) years’ experience providing support and/or counseling services to individuals with disabilities in an educational setting. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge:
Application of American with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA);

Supervisory principles;

Laws and regulations binding the support programs and services;

Community health services within the community; and

Counseling, student personnel, veterans services, or related practices/functions at an institution of higher education.

Skills:
Communicating, both verbally and in writing;

Using Microsoft WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; and

Applying adaptive equipment/software technology.

Abilities:
Provide student accessibility and support assistance; and

Has active membership and involvement in applicable professional organizations. Physical Demands/Working Conditions PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in an indoor, office setting.

Work is performed dealing with crisis situations that require making decisions involving people, resources, and property.

Work is performed during office hours with occasional evenings and weekends in support of student success.

May be required to travel out of state and overnight. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or closely related field.

Minimum (3) years or more professional experience working in Disability Services, Behavior Intervention or a related field at an institution of higher education.

Minimum (1) year or more experience working in community health services Required Training Annual Campus Security Authority (CSA)

Other trainings as required by Human OCCC Human Resources Work Hours Regular office hours are from 8 AM until 5 PM Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends in support of student success.

Professional development may require travel out of state and overnight. Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement) The Director will lead collaborative efforts bridging efforts and programs in both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs units.

Provide leadership for the preparation and implementation of a system to deliver student accessibility and support services to students as it relates to specific intervention actions and coordinate both student services and faculty involvement as it applies. Monitor the delivery system to assure quality educational standards are maintained to promote student success.

Assist in the management and support for an institution-wide student crisis intervention system that promotes assisting students to manage personal conflicts that interfere with their success.

Management of BetterMynd virtual counseling services or other platform (as contract agreements dictate)

Provide support and direction for compliance with ADA and 504 laws as it applies to students with disabilities and ensure that a system is in place to provide accommodations to these students.

Provide support and direction for department community outreach to ensure appropriate referrals for students and provide institutional information as it pertains to departmental and student goals.

Develop and maintain community agency relationships for the service of students in need or who may desire off campus and/or extended care services.

Provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation and assessment of all departmental functions to ensure the establishment and continuation of exceptional services that promote student success.

Provide technical assistance to the College in regards to supporting students and when necessary providing points of intervention for students and accommodating persons with disabilities.

Develop and implement systems to maintain necessary records for services to students that meet internal and external reporting requirements associated with the department.

Develop and maintain an effective organization through the hiring, professional development, and motivation of personnel, utilizing their individual talents to achieve institutional and departmental strategic plans.

Prepare departmental budgets, manage, and monitor expenditures.
Ensure maximum utilization of available resources as appropriate.
Provide administrative oversight of any grants to include development and implementation of the grant program, monitor and coordinate a system for recording requisitions and maintaining records of expenditures, and ensure the grant regulations are met for all timelines, reports, and any other requirements.

Advise and support the Associate Vice President for Student Success on significant matters and support the College leadership and other members of management in achievement of their goals and operational purposes.

Participate in community and civic activities and professional organizations and activities that enhance the image and mission of the College.

Contribute to a safe and supportive environment. Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures) Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

This position has been identified as having significant responsibility for student and campus activities. The individual holding this position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are required to report crimes they become aware of to the Reporting Structure at Oklahoma City Community College. Annual CSA training is required for individuals holding this position.
