The Senior Own Brand Sourcing & Product Development Manager will lead initiatives in Apparel and Home Textiles to ensure BJ's delivers top-tier Own Brand products that align with our member-centric goals, profitability, and operational objectives. This role requires a profound understanding of vendor processes, apparel and textiles product development, costing drivers, production capabilities, and global sourcing. Collaborative efforts with various BJ's teams will be pivotal to execute a project roadmap that drives both top and bottom-line growth for BJ’s Own Brands.
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Partner with the Own Brand Manager, Quality Assurance, and Merchant teams to understand the strategic initiatives of the business and define a sourcing strategy that meets the needs of our members and our business.
- Work directly with vendors to oversee product development milestones including fit samples, evaluation of tech packs and bulk fabric approvals. Provide and coordinate vendor feedback on fit direction in collaboration with the cross functional team to ensure standards are well-executed and consistent across Own Brands.
- Conduct fit evaluations on all Own Brand garments to execute fit intent and approvals .
- Develop, implement and maintain category quality, construction standards and fit blocks.
- Gather costing, analyze submissions and develop recommendations that achieve project goals and optimize value for the member.
- Spearhead initiatives to realize cost savings ensuring product quality is never compromised.
- Evaluate and vet new suppliers in collaboration with Quality and Merchant partners.
- Cultivate and sustain robust, long-standing relationships with vendors to advance mutual financial and partnership objectives.
- Manage and continuously optimize the vendor matrix to support current and prospective product requirements, global sourcing risk management, and operational needs.
- Manage and track project milestones and deliverables. Proactively identify potential delays or issues, and work with the cross functional team to develop contingency plans, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within the predefined scope and financial goals. Communicate timely updates to stakeholders and realign resources as necessary to meet project objectives.
Qualifications
- 7+ Years of sourcing and product development experience
- Apparel design knowledge required. Apparel Technical Designer preferred.
- Track record of driving exceptional results in a cross functional environment
- Working knowledge of product manufacturing
- Strong curiosity, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills – thrives in a team environment
- Project management skills
- Exceptional prioritization ability focused on delivering against most important outcomes and influencing key stakeholders
