Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of law, including but not limited to motor vehicle accidents and litigation. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to providing excellent administrative support within a law office environment.
Responsibilities
Assist attorneys with case preparation and management, including legal research and document review.
Draft and proofread legal documents, contracts, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
Manage case files using document management systems such as NEOS Needles.
Maintain organized filing systems for easy retrieval of documents and case materials.
Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
Coordinate schedules, appointments, and meetings for attorneys, providing executive administrative support as needed.
Utilize legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to assist in case preparation.
Support project management efforts by tracking deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, and contractsFile and organize legal documents and correspondence
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain attorney calendars and schedule appointments
- Conduct research using legal databases such as Lexis-Nexis
- Assist with drafting and editing legal correspondence
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Prepare and file court documents for litigation cases
Qualifications:
6 to 10+ years Legal Assistant experience preferred
Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
Previous medical records experience
Electronic Filing and Case Management
Impeccable Client Service Relations and Professionalism
Previous experience with high volume scheduling and calendar management
- Previous experience as a legal secretary or paralegal is preferred
- Proficiency in document management systems and legal case management software
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong proofreading abilities
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Proficient in data entry and computer skills
