Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various areas of law, including family law, criminal law and personal injury, among others. This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a commitment to providing exceptional support to our legal professionals outside the office and in the courtroom. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our law office by assisting with legal research, document management, billing, and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with case preparation by conducting legal research and drafting documents and discovery.
  • Manage case files and ensure all documentation is organized and up-to-date.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within document management systems.
  • Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather necessary information for cases.
  • Support project management initiatives related to ongoing legal matters.
  • Utilize legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to gather relevant case law.
  • Coordinate schedules, appointments, and meetings for attorneys while providing executive administrative support.
  • Handle filing, transcription, and clerical tasks as required by the team, as well as VIPS.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office setting.
  • Familiarity with various areas of law including but not limited to family law and personal injury law.
  • Proficiency in using legal software such as PCLaw and iManage, CLIO and Intuit for case management.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft contracts and other legal documents effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis using available resources.
  • Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective client communication.
  • Experience with document review processes and litigation support is preferred.
