Account Manager — Public Relations
About
We help brands earn trust and visibility where it matters most—top-tier press, credible publications, and search results. Our team blends classic PR craft with modern SEO to create, place, and rank high-impact stories. We're growing fast, operate remote-first, collaborate in Slack, and value clear communication, ownership, and creative problem-solving.
The Role
We're looking for a client-facing Account Manager to lead a portfolio of PR/SEO engagements. You'll run strategy and day-to-day execution with clients, coordinate press and media placements, and make sure every story is positioned—and technically optimized—to perform in search. This role includes video conferences and occasional phone calls with clients and their teams, along with daily collaboration with our internal specialists.
What you'll do
- Own client relationships end-to-end: onboard, brief, plan, execute, and report.
- Lead editorial calendars for thought leadership, news, features, and bylines.
- Coordinate media outreach with our PR specialists; prep clients for interviews.
- Optimize every placement for search (titles, schema, links, anchors, internal signals) to improve rankings and measurable impact.
- Monitor sentiment and surface risks; support crisis-management communications with fast, precise messaging.
- Run recurring strategy calls (video) and ad-hoc phone check-ins; set agendas, notes, and clear next steps.
- Track KPIs (coverage quality, DA/DR, rankings, SOV, referral traffic) and present insights, not just data.
- Keep projects moving in Slack with crisp updates and cross-functional coordination.
- Contribute to playbooks, media lists, and process improvements as we scale.
- Identify upsell, renewal, and cross-sell opportunities, and collaborate with the sales department to report findings and coordinate next steps.
You'll thrive here if you have
- Public Relations experience managing client programs (agency or in-house).
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; calm under pressure (crisis comms mindset).
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals (on-page, SERP intent, link equity, basic schema).((We will also offer training in this area))
- Strength in prioritization and project management across multiple accounts.
- Confidence on video calls and phone; professional presence with executives.
- Comfort with Slack, Google Workspace, and common PR/SEO tools.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with thought-leadership programs, bylines, and founder comms.
- Familiarity with digital PR tactics (newsjacking, data stories, contributed content).
- Basics with analytics/SEO tools (GSC, GA, Ahrefs/SEMrush) to inform recommendations.
What we offer
- Remote-first culture with a supportive, high-trust team.
- Meaningful ownership of client outcomes and space to do your best work.
- Clear growth path as we scale; direct access to leadership and mentorship.
- Competitive compensation (base + performance incentives).
- Tools and resources to excel in a modern PR + SEO environment.
(If you require a formal benefits list or salary range for your market, we'll share details during the first conversation.)
How success is measured
- Quality and consistency of coverage and placements.
- Measurable search impact of placements (rankings, visibility, traffic).
- Client satisfaction, retention, and expansion.
- Clear, proactive communication and on-time delivery across all accounts.
Work setup
- Remote with video conferences and occasional client phone calls.
- Collaboration via Slack and internal calls/meetings.
- Core collaboration during standard business hours with flexibility for urgent items.
