Assistant to Director of Events/Receptionist

We are looking for a part-time warm and welcoming individual to assist the Reception Desk Manager and the Director of Events. This dual position will require the ability to have flexibility to work with a varying schedule each week.
ASSISTANT TO DIRECTOR OF EVENTS

Summary of Job Duties:
At St. David’s, we host a variety of events from concerts, public lunches, festivals, a multitude of private events. As a Front-of-House Assistant, will we be responsible for, but not limited to:
· Running the register for: Thursday Public Lunch & Open and Affirming Lunch
· Manage Guest relations for: Candlelight Music Series, Texas Tribune Festival, SXSW Music Festival
· Assisting Director of Events in event preparation
· Taking inventory of event supplies
Job Requirements (may be obtained within 30 days of hire)

FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST
Department: Administration
Reports To: Front Desk Manager
FLSA Status: Part-Time
Summary of Job Duties:
This position supports the clergy, staff, and parishioners with front desk matters including front desk reception, event assistance, protocols for building, security/garage passes, greet visitors, answer the phone, remains alert and sensitive to those entering the church and create a friendly, welcoming environment. This is a reception position which has in-person contact with homeless neighbors on a regular basis.
- Greets clients, visitors, and guests; determines the purpose of each person’s visit and directs or notifies appropriate staff that a guest, appointment has arrived.
- Answers, screens, and directs phone calls to staff; takes messages.
- Receives mail, documents, packages, and courier deliveries, logs them into incoming package log and notifies staff of their arrival.
- Communicate effectively with parishioners, visitors, and staff.
- Instruct and assist with parking validations on the kiosk for Parking Garage as needed.
- Perform other duties as determined by the Rector and Parish Administrator.
Dual Position Overview:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – High School Diploma, prior customer service or reception experience, especially in a downtown environment, preferred.
SKILL and ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS – English reading, writing, and speaking proficiency required. Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.

Ability to communicate verbally both in person and by phone. Position may require sitting for long periods of time while working at a computer or talking on the phone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision. Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach items overhead.
