*Location:* Orient, OH
*Schedule:* Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (No weekends or holidays; no overtime)

*Pay: *$17/hr

*Overview:* We are seeking a detail-oriented and computer-literate Health Information Specialist for a long-term assignment. This role involves managing health information with precision and ensuring compliance with medical record-keeping regulations.

*Key Responsibilities:*
* Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
* Organize medical reports for filing and ensure that all necessary signatures and documents are present in patient charts.
* Prepare health information forms for new admissions and fill out requests for specific reports or certificates.
* Compile and type statistical reports, including daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, and lengths of stay.
* File reports into health information records and maintain logs for record-keeping.
* Retrieve health information records as needed and provide information after assessing the appropriateness of requests.
* Coordinate with other departments to ensure adherence to health information record procedures.

*Major Worker Characteristics:*
* Knowledge of health information technology, including JCAH and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
* Understanding of confidentiality requirements concerning patient information and medical terminology.
* Proficiency in using a typewriter and/or word processor, as well as basic mathematical skills.
* Ability to solve problems involving few variables within familiar contexts and write routine business correspondence.
* Strong proofreading skills to identify errors in medical reports and recognize missing information.

*Minimum Qualifications:*
* Completion of 3 courses or 9 months of experience in records management.
* At least 1 course or 3 months of experience in medical terminology.
* At least 1 course or 3 months of typing experience.
* Equivalent qualifications may be considered.
