Data Center Technician
The Data Center Technician (DCT) plays a key role in the SoftNet Solutions Integration Center, guiding the flow of physical technology products through the warehouse and the integration center, where products are crafted, racked, stacked, configured, and tested to meet specific customer needs. DCTs work with little or minimal direction, handling products and updating associated information systems for the following business functions: receiving, cycle counting, kitting, inventory, picking, benching, un-benching, packing, shipping, asset management, pre-stage rack and stack activities, and programming and configuration of automation programs as required by customers.
Responsibilities
- Racks and stacks server, networking, and storage equipment
- Troubleshoot Server Hardware Failures and perform required maintenance
- Reads installation plans (Visio Drawings / Spreadsheets) and implements installation accordingly
- Resolves work priorities from a ticketing queue and ensures adherence to all contribute times
- Inventorying & labeling of equipment.
- Power cycling a router, server, and switch and soft-booting a server.
- Infrastructure data cabling.
- Running new cable and cross-connects.
- Swapping hard drives, memory, or any other internal component.
- Swapping of hot-swappable components.
Device configuration
- Configuration of existing & new equipment.
- Keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) installation/configuration.
- Providing a KVM or IP Switch so that clients are able to configure their hardware remotely.
Maintenance, testing & troubleshooting
- General and system troubleshooting.
- Set-up and connection of console port for remote management.
- Relaying equipment status and entering commands onto a pre-installed console.
- Supports customer happiness through timely and detailed order execution
Qualifications
- 2 years+ or equivalent of experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A natural curiosity and strong troubleshooting skills
- You are capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and are agile in manual dexterity (climb, stoop, et.) with or without an accommodation.
