DEPARTMENT: Development

REPORTS TO: Campaign and Stewardship Manager

SEMESTER: Spring (January 6 through April 30th)

SCHEDULE: Part Time: 22.5 hours per week

APPLY BY: January 6, 2025


PRIMARY PURPOSE: Development needs an engaged individual who is interested in learning about various aspects of development through hands-on experience. We will need support during a critical time of year in preparation for end of year fundraising. Interns will learn about many aspects of the fundraising process in a nonprofit organization.

  1. Assist with Foundation fundraising by:
    1. Researching grant prospects and writing briefings
    2. Assisting with writing grant proposals and reports
  2. Assist with major donor fundraising by:
    1. Conducting donor research, including church contacts
    2. Calling donors to say thank you, or encourage continued church support
    3. Doing data cleanup in the database
  3. Assist membership fundraising with:
    1. Filling and administrative support
    2. Assisting with setting up Peer 2 Peer fundraising
  4. Participate in department meetings.
  5. Work on additional projects as requested.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Pursuing a BA or BS degree with some prior office work experience
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, database software and Internet research.
  • Experience with Raisers’ Edge database a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills (written, oral, and electronic).
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to the mission of Bread for the World.

WORK ENVIRONMENT ISSUES:

  • This internship can be based in Washington, DC or remote.
  • Bread is a hybrid organization.
